The Aklilu Lemma Institute of Pathobiology (ALIPB), formerly known as the Institute of Pathobiology, was established by the late Professor Aklilu Lemma in 1966 under the Addis Ababa University (AAU), then Haile Selassie I University. Since May 2005, the Institute has been renamed after its founder, Professor Aklilu Lemma. Aklilu Lemma Institute of Pathobiology is conducting biomedical research on major tropical and infectious diseases and runs post graduate teaching as well as rendering health development services to the community. The institute has five research units in which researches are conducted in collaboration with various international and national stakeholders and partners. The five units are Human Medical Parasitology Research Unit, Animal Health and Zoonotic Diseases Research Unit.
